TAZA Replaces Nearly 5,000 Plastic Bags in Eid al-Adha Meat Distribution Through “Wrapped with Purpose”

Jakarta, June 10, 2026 — Eid al-Adha has long been a meaningful occasion marked by generosity, compassion, and togetherness. Yet behind the millions of portions of qurban meat distributed each year, lies an environmental challenge that is often overlooked: the surge in single-use plastic consumption.
Driven by the belief that acts of goodness should not come at the expense of the home we all share, TAZA launched an innovative CSR initiative through its social initiative platform, TAZA IMPACT. Titled Wrapped with Purpose, this first project seeks to encourage more environmentally conscious practices during Eid al-Adha.
This year, TAZA IMPACT took a tangible step by replacing nearly 5,000 conventional plastic bags traditionally used in qurban meat distribution. In their place, the organization introduced eco-friendly packaging made from cassava starch-based bioplastic, designed to decompose naturally through home composting.

“Through Wrapped with Purpose, we hope to show that every act of goodness can be carried out with greater intention and awareness. For us, the meaning of giving is not only found in what we give, but also in how we give it. We believe that environmental stewardship can go hand in hand with the values of worship, compassion, and humanity that lie at the heart of Eid al-Adha,” said Ashila Ramadhani, Founder of TAZA.
Measuring Impact: Replacing 5,000 Single-Use Plastic Bags
As TAZA’s dedicated social initiative platform, TAZA IMPACT was established to extend the brand’s commitment beyond fashion. Guided by the philosophy of Inspired Minds Preserving Awareness, Character, & Taqwa (IMPACT), the platform develops community-based initiatives that nurture spiritual (faith), education, social responsibility, and environmental awareness while creating meaningful and measurable impact.
Through this year’s implementation of Wrapped with Purpose, TAZA IMPACT successfully distributed 4,915 cassava-based bags to replace conventional plastic packaging in qurban meat distribution. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with several mosques across Depok and is estimated to have reached approximately 2,500 families, delivering both social benefit and a more environmentally responsible alternative for distribution.

Based on post-program environmental impact assessments, the initiative is estimated to have achieved the following outcomes:
- Prevented approximately 49.15 kilograms of plastic waste.
- Reduced carbon emissions by an estimated 265.41 kg CO₂e.
- Reduced landfill demand by approximately 98.3 cubic meters and lowered long-term landfill burden by 44,235 m³-years.
- Prevented potential marine plastic leakage equivalent to approximately 393 plastic bags.
The challenge surrounding plastic waste becomes particularly significant during qurban distribution. Once contaminated with blood and food residue, conventional plastic bags become extremely difficult to recycle. As a result, millions of these bags ultimately end up in landfills or leak into the environment.
Conventional plastic can take more than 500 years to break down, gradually degrading into microplastics that contaminate soil and water ecosystems.
Through Wrapped with Purpose, TAZA and TAZA IMPACT hope to encourage a broader perspective on the practice of qurban. Beyond strengthening social solidarity, Eid al-Adha can also serve as an opportunity to adopt more thoughtful and environmentally responsible practices; ensuring that the spirit of giving extends not only to people, but also to our home.
