Bemberg™

Materials

Our commitment takes form in the materials we carefully curate. Each fabric is chosen with care, designed to endure, whilst upholding our aim to mindful living. In every weave and thread, we seek to honor both the body it covers and the world it comes from.

Bemberg™

Bemberg™ is a regenerated fiber, made from cotton linter in Japan since 1931. For 90+ years, it has walked alongside fashion and innovations with its crafted elegance and commitment.

Wrapped around cotton seeds is a delicate fiber called linter. What the world once considered a by-product turned out to be a blessing not to be wasted. From this gentle fiber, Bemberg™ is born. Through a unique process, the cotton linter is transformed: refined, dissolved, spun into pure regenerated fiber. A process that turns what is often overlooked into something timeless and essential.

For more than nine decades, Bemberg™ has evolved with fashion, people, and time. The wide range of certifications Bemberg™ has affirms that every fiber is traced, trusted, and true.

Why Nubuck?

First things first, if you search on Google for 'Nubuck Fabric,' what you'll mostly find is information about Nubuck Leather.

But that's exactly why we name this fabric 'Nubuck' – to evoke its unique hand feel. The name is inspired by Nubuck Leather itself, which is a luxurious material resembling natural suede with a velvet-like surface. Nubuck leather, traditionally used for shoes and bags, is known for its high quality, strength, and durability.

This fabric is actually made from plant-based fibers that offer a unique combination of sophistication, texture, and comfort that is rarely found in other abayas.

Nubuck Classification

Nubuck Silk

Used in Fina Abaya 1.0, Fina Abaya Stripe Edition, Teeqa Abaya Plain, Seraya Abaya Stripe, Leya Abaya 3.0

This nubuck type is soft and has a gentle shine. It has a suede-like texture and a smooth, flowing drape, perfect for adding a bit of shine to natural-looking designs.

Nubuck Matte

Used in Fina Abaya 2.0, Tala One Set, Alia One Set

This type is the lightest and the best drapery among other nubuck types. It has a strong suede look with a smooth, matte finish. This nubuck flowy feel makes it great for clean, modern styles.

Nubuck Wood Grain

Used in Teeqa Exclusive Abaya, Fina Abaya 4.0, Leya Abaya 3.0 Black Wood Grain

This is the heaviest among the nubuck types, but it actually still feels light. It’s firmer and has a beautiful drape. The wood grain texture makes it look unique and more exclusive, yet it remains soft when worn.

Nubuck Linea

Used in Shila Abaya 2.0, Shila One Set

Features a fine line texture and is shinier than the other nubuck types.

Nubuck Luster

Used in Shila Abaya 3.0, Shila Tunic

The fabric embodies the signature qualities of Nubuck fabric: a distinctive texture, natural cooling effect, and all-day comfort. What makes this fabric exceptional is its elegant finish, subtly shiny yet refinedly matte.
