Ways to Make This Ramadan Feel Lighter

There’s a version of Ramadan we all imagine.

Sweet mornings. Productive days. Joyful iftars. Ibadah routine that just.. Flows with you. And then there’s the version some of us actually live with: suhoor slump, dry lips by noon, energy dips at 2 PM, all completed by a to-do list that somehow gives us more headache.

Fasting is both a spiritual and very human experience. So instead of talking about what Ramadan “should” look like, let’s talk about how to live it comfortably, sister to sister, girl to girl.


Start With Direction

One of the stressors during Ramadan is waking up without clarity. When energy is limited, indecision feels heavier. Try this: a simple daily to-do list, not a productivity flex, but a kindness to yourself.

Girl to girl tip: mix the necessary with the nourishing. One for work. One act of goodness. One thing that grounds you. When you give your day a loose structure, your mind relaxes. You’re no longer asking, “What should I do now?” every hour. You’re simply following a mindful map.


Set Ramadan Goals That Feels Like You, But Better

Ramadan goals don’t need to be grand to be sincere. Read the Qur’an everyday, even if it’s just one page. Focus on realistic goals so they don’t become your new source of guilt. Some days you’ll do more, some days less. Both belong in the month. The important thing is that you show up everyday because consistency matters more than intensity. Progress that feels sustainable should feel more meaningful than ambition that burns you out by day seven.


Choose Your Circle Carefully

Ramadan is always a good time to be selective. Choose environments and people that make your day at ease. Stick with those who remind you of goodness. Sometimes the most mindful thing you can do during Ramadan is simply choosing where (and with whom) you spend your time and energy.


Look Good, Feel Good

When we say comfy clothing makes a difference, we mean it. Wearing your best clothes doesn’t always mean dressing up. Us girlies know best how most of the time, it simply means choosing what allows you to move through the day comfortably. Feeling physically calm helps maintain focus, especially during ‘ibadah. When your body is at ease, it allows your heart to be more present.

 

Red Dots ≠ Stop Sign

Isn’t period one of the most misunderstood moments of Ramadan? We know, not being able to fast or pray can feel isolating. But hey, the rhythm of Ramadan doesn’t stop for you just because some red dots came to visit, it beautifully shifts!

You are obeying your Rabb when you pause fasting during your period, just as you are obeying Him when you fast on your clear days. Always remember: your presence in Ramadan is not measured by one or two forms of worship alone.


Make Peace With Imperfect Days

Not every day will feel calm or productive. There will be moments of fatigue, distraction, and emotional roller coaster. But that shouldn’t cancel the good you’re doing. Let us not forget that this good season is about continuing, even when the days feel slightly off.

Comfort in this month often comes from allowing yourself to be human while staying sincere. It simply isn’t about eliminating struggle. On the contrary, it’s  about learning how to move and live with it, one istighfar at a time.

And sometimes, that’s the most beautiful kind of worship there is. Rely on His mercy. Have sabr.

So yes, Ramadan is a season of showing up and striving. As you move through the days, we hope our pieces can be your good company; supporting you and making comfort one less thing to worry about
